The Department of Ophthalmology of the University Hospital Tübingen is significantly involved in the current development of ophthalmology and is one of the most important centers in Germany, both in research and in health care.
The Department of Ophthalmology cares for the diseases and injuries of this important organ and occupies a leading position in health care and research nationwide.
The Research Institute of Ophthalmology aims to investigate the causes of degenerative, neoplastic and vascular diseases of the eye and the visual pathway at the molecular, cellular and systemic level.

In close cooperation with the Center for Rare Eye Diseases, the Department of Ophthalmology and the Ophthalmology Research Center also specializes in the treatment and research of rare eye diseases.

The clinic opened the first certified breast center for breast cancer patients. The Gynecological Cancer Center was also one of the first to be certified by the German Cancer Society and guarantees comprehensive care for patients with ovarian and uterine cancer.

Pregnancy care and (risk) obstetrics are important tasks of the clinic. The care and counseling around the birth gives parents just as much security as the directly affiliated special department for preterm infants (perinatal center).

The clinic specializes in the treatment and research of skin diseases.

Allergy diseases
Diagnosis and treatment of eczema, hay fever, hives and drug allergies including complex clarification.

autoimmune diseases
The nationwide center for psoriasis, bladder-forming autoimmune diseases, lupus, scleroderma and vasculitis also offers the latest outpatient and inpatient treatment options in cooperation with specialists from other disciplines, including an outpatient infusion center.

Oncology
At the Center for Skin Tumors (Comprehensive Cancer Center), specialists at the University Department of Dermatology work closely with specialists from other disciplines to comprehensively advise and treat patients with skin cancer.

Psychic influences play a role throughout medicine. Our core competence lies in the diagnosis and therapy of psychosomatic disorders, ie diseases that are manifest on both a physical and a mental level. As a department of the Medical Clinic Tübingen, we are part of a modern university high-performance medicine.

In the current medical ranking of Focus magazine Prof. Dr. Stephan Zipfel, Head of Psychosomatic Medicine, awarded the title of "Top-Mediziner 2012". In the field of eating disorders, he received the best possible rating.

The Institute for Tropical Medicine (ITM) specializes in infectious diseases, tropical diseases and human parasitosis and is the center of excellence for tropical medicine in Baden-Württemberg. For patients there is a tropical medicine university outpatient department and within the medical clinic a stationary facility is available.
